A blog for the Barksdales

With everyone living everywhere and the impossibility of a reunion where everyone is present being a near impossibility, I thought it at least possible to have an online reunion. This blog has been started to keep in touch, let people know what you are up to, brag about family accomplishments, post pictures and videos of each other, share love, and otherwise reunite as a family. We are all descendants of a man I truly admire: Nelson Arley Barksdale, and a woman I adore: Viola Barksdale. Let's at least attempt to keep in touch even if it is only through an occasional post. I request that at least someone from every family post a short note and a picture before Christmas. Individuals are allowed to post as well as families. You can even post on behalf of someone else, so long as you beleive you can get away with it:-).



Janet, Liberty and I are enduring the November heat down here in the southwest - Valley of the Sun. I'm not kidding, it's was still in the 90s every day until this past weekend. We live in a large condo on the edge of civilization, right in the middle of one of the most unique deserts on the planet - the only place where the famous saguaro grows. I work for the county - 3rd largest in the US - in downtown Phoenix and Janet spends her time teaching and caring for Liberty. Stay at home moms - the most expensive form of early childhood education around! Only the best for our Liberty. She's beautiful and doing well. Most of you are already aware, but we are so thankful for her and the blessing that she has been in our lives - keeping Janet from going to Iraq and all:-).



Attached is a picture of this past weekend when we made a trek into the mountains to get out of the heat - it really wasn't as cold as the picture makes it appear.
